Appeals court rules Trump can fire independent agency members without cause gutting the last bulwark against presidential capture of oversight. They're not "independent" if they serve at his pleasure. This is how democracies die: with judges rewriting "for cause" to mean "for any reason I like."

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I was just awarded the Peabody from "Allison's Peabody Awards" to be presented in my second bedroom which doubles as a podcast studio. I just want to thank all the wonderful competitors of which there were none, and the amazing judges which are me and my cats. GREAT HONOR!
