@kaine.senate.gov Vote NO tonight! Your phones are off but I want you to know I’m your constituent and I’m so disappointed that you’re not holding the line. You’ve conceded and lost all leverage to fight for what the people need you to fight for!

i have said this before but when “getting rid of race in admissions” for the administration means “you can’t even try to reach out to underrepresented communities and encourage them to apply and if you do it is illegal discrimination against white people” then the actual goal here is segregation
Harvard Ends Undergraduate Minority Recruitment Program as Trump Targets Race in Admissions | News | The Harvard Crimson
By ending the minority recruitment program in May, Harvard shuttered a more than 50-year-old initiative to encourage minority high school students to apply.

That said, I want to offer an important caveat that all of you probably already know: an EO is not a law, even if many authorities are currently treating them as such. So we shouldn't just accept whatever is asserted in them.

Covid vaccine advisory meeting is 5/22. One deadline for public comment says 5/23 and another deadline within text states 5/21; today’s deadline makes more sense since meeting is tomorrow. Comments can be anonymous.
You have three days, starting today, to leave a public comment with the FDA about, say, why COVID-19 boosters should remain available to everyone and also free. "Individual consumer" is the category you most likely want (unless you are one of the other categories; if so, choose that).

If we can "avoid a government shutdown" by voting for this CR, then why is the entire Department of Education closed today? Why is USAID closed? Why are hundreds of billions in grant contracts frozen?

We are already in the shutdown. And your votes DON'T stop it. In fact, they allow it to expand.

Dear Joe,

I know it feels really wrong to order your AG to release a Special Counsel report because that’s been a bad thing to do for so long. But the Supreme Court says it’s okay now. It’s legal. It’s an official act.

So go ahead, Mr. President. It’s normal now.

This summary was what I heard in Zuckerberg’s message. He also said that FB is about to become a hellscape similar to X.
Facebook suppressed promotion of political content during a Democratic administration and is restoring it for a Republican one
More from Zuck: "We're bringing back civic content. For a while the community asked to see less politics because it was making people stressed, so we stopped recommending these posts. But it feels like we're in a new era now..."

I remember pretend voting for President Carter in my 6th grade social studies class which I think started my trajectory as a Democrat growing up in a family of Republicans living in a Republican state. What he stood for spoke to me and shaped my early views on politics. Thank you, Jimmy Carter.
