I've had a family for 20 years. Any time off has been spent on dentist appointments, school functions, summer days without childcare. It's seen as a liability.
For men? It makes them look stable & responsible.
Women have to be perfectly composed ALL THE TIME or we're viewed as crazy.

But this is how the bar for men remains safely buried so men can be celebrated for basic decency because he went to hit her but didn't, went to rape her but didn't, went to abandon his children but didn't. But other men do.
