And sorry if advice is not wanted. I have a tendency to jump to that immediately without thinking and I'm only half awake atm

This has helped. Also helped to talk to my wife about it when it happens.

Not sure if this advice will be Geoff] helpful to you. Either way, I sympathize with how tough, painful, and isolating it can be. Hang in there.

I have RSD from my ADHD and it can be very difficult even if you recognize it when it happens.

The best mental technique that I have is that I consider how unfair I'm treating the other person involved by assuming they won't have any patience/understanding/etc, and instead are overreacting.

Spider legs can also work

There's a lot to argue about. I heard that no one knows what magnets are.

Most people know very, very little about math

Every parent's dream: to have people be willing to begrudgingly put up with their children!

Poor kid.

Seems some at Fox are very slowly starting to push back on some of the insane stuff. But just a little bit. Still weird to see.

I was thinking there had to be an appropriate Sesame Street song

Tbh, it's much bigger than that. Trump only happened because of decades of pushing misinformation, hate, and extremism to get votes by the right. We're going to be living with that aspect for a long time.

It's crazy to me that they can hear someone constantly lie, make everything about themselves, contradict themselves regularly, and incredibly thin-skinned, but then after all of that conclude he cares about them or America.

Part of our language centers actually does work this way and LLMs even seem to medicinally Mechanically work very similarly to this part of our brain. Of course, it's just a teeny little part of how we process or produce language.

I think there's more than one reason. But this definitely wouldn't help.

I just don't understand how anyone could take this idea seriously unless there was tons of evidence for it.

It's crazy that last, desperate attempts to understand a sentence when you don't have a dictionary, are being taught as the primary method. Because that's the only time I've done and of the three-queues (mostly using context, though using roots of a word isn't one of the queues which is also useful)

There's a long list of ways Trump/Republicans have insulted or hurt veterans. It's honestly insane so many people think they're the party that supports veterans the most.

So if Jackson had denied the request, they could have tried other justices until they got the answer they wanted -- which would have been far worse.
in any event, the modern practice for applications to a single justice is to refer them to the entire court for resolution (which we see in most emergency applications), but by *granting* the emergency request Justice Jackson cut off the possibility of the administration simply going to Alito
