Just got back from a work trip to London and while I was there I visited a fantastic Chinese book shop called Guanghwa on Shaftesbury Ave. I picked up a copy of Second Sister by Chan Ho-Kei as it caught my eye and have not put it down, its such a great read!

I'm going to be a "mature" student in September, so please give me all of your recommendations on how to make the most of uni while balancing work and family.

I'll be studying politics & IR so welcome any recommendations on books, podcasts, videos etc to consume before I start.

My mothers day presents yesterday included 4 books and now I'm slightly worried about what my family think about me 😂

The books were:
Slow Horses by Mick Herron
The CIA Book Club by Charlie English
Her Secret Service by Claire Hubbard-Hall
The Umbrella Murder by Ulrik Skotte

After a 💩 month last month, this month is shaping up to be equally as 💩. I was sick 2 weeks ago to the point that I could not get out of bed, then I had a family bereavement and now I have chicken pox.

Please excuse me while I hibernate until April 😂

49 Days by Agnes Lee 4*, really interesting read and gives a quick overview of what Buddhist's believe happens after death.

🧵tw: mention of cancer

I've not posted much the last few weeks as I've been going through a bit of a health scare but by god am I grateful for the NHS.

3 weeks ago I went for a smear and the nurse noticed something unusual, she did swabs for thrush and stds which both came back negative.

Kicking the weekend off with a nonfiction book that I've been debating reading since it came out. I've seen it recommended a lot by people I follow so I'm excited to get stuck in.

Started reading We had to remove this post by Hanna Bervoets today, really interesting storyline but very graphic in a factual way.

I've just started reading The Rainfall Market by You Yeong-Gwang and its just beautifully written. Someone described it as similar to Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli and I totally get that.

Only read two books in October but read 6 in November, my favourites were The 392 (October) and At Night All Blood is Black (November).

Also I highly recommend anyone learning Chinese to buy Chineasy, it really helped solidify certain characters in my mind that I was struggling with.
