I also think in an era of 8-episode seasons direct to streaming that they started pulling this BS earlier and it is a contributing factor to those shows not renewing. If you stress the fans out watching your show it's not an escape. Why watch?

This is not complicated. Stop fucking your show in season 4 with big drama. It might get new viewers for a season but it reduces the long term quality and you will lose viewers again. Shock value is not value, it’s just shock.

Original CSI drew numbers until they started fucking with the main cast of characters. Again I do not need the detectives to have arcs. They just need to consistently solve crimes!!

One of the reasons people love White Collar is because Elizabeth and Peter are solid the whole way through. Honestly, Neal’s dumb fuckery is the main detractor and you can mostly ignore that.

Murder She Wrote was great because every episode was sort of the same and the characters did not grow. They aren’t supposed to! It’s a serial about murders! The point is a new case every week not if Jessica has gotten over her husband. (She never does and that’s perfect.)

For some reason most shows in the last 10-15 years have fucked themselves in season 4+ by introducing unnecessary interpersonal drama. This is not what any of us truly want in a tv show.

when I signed up with my current doctor I did not tick the epilepsy box but did write "occasional seizures" in the other field and they were like "so epilepsy" and I was like "hey I've never been diagnosed. I've just had like... three to five seizures."
