sunset. borderline(?) feminist. among the best romances i've ever seen. love Kate so so much. great companion piece to sunrise even if it's not as impressive. maybe the most accessible murnau i've seen? feels almost like a 70s movie at times

kind of an unfortunate one to follow the last laugh with because the camera is sooo rigid the whole time but the one of the few moments where the camera actually moves is so powerful my jaw dropped

cant believe it. i actually screamed at some of the effects in this. the camera is so so alive in this. an unbelievable balance of catharsis and misery in the end
