the arc titled The American Scream deals with JFK's assassination & the cultural trauma that led from it, which was wildly different in 1990 where commentary on & against the US wasn't necessarily large in mainstream comics, though prevalent in Swamp Thing's American Gothic & Morrison's Doom Patrol.
