I just got everything set up and connected, and now have the ability to set breakpoints and do source-level debugging of the code running on the microcontroller inside my trackball.
What will I do with this new ability?
I’m not really sure.

One of the features I added to the board is a debug port (labelled "SWD"), conforming to a standard laid out by the Raspberry Pi foundation (the makers of the RP2040 chip I based the board on).

One of my long-term personal projects is a scratch-built trackball. Over the last couple months I’ve been doing some updates to the project, including designing a custom circuit board that can be manufactured in small batches by a board assembly service (JLCPCB is the one I've been using).
