Marty-Beta is now born in this new timeline, the one in the film, where the McFly family are the losers and secret drunks that we meet in the film. From there, the events of the film series unfold on screen, as we see them.

Maybe Doc doesn't connect the cables in time and he is stuck in 1955, having to live out his life there until he is drafted where he dies. Either way, Alpha doesn't go back to 1985. BUT he has introduced George and Lorraine who fall in love, get married and have children.

Or maybe not. Either way, Alpha doesn't meet Lorraine, she never sees his purple Calvin Klein underwear and things go all Oedipus on us. Maybe something happens to him during the lightning strike and he's killed.

Marty-Alpha travels back to 1955 just like Marty-Beta does in the film. Alpha interacts with Goldie and George, but not Lorraine. Alpha never meets Lorraine because when her father hits him with the car, he dies. This is the inciting incident that draws Lorraine and George together.

Well, I think the Marty we see in the film (who we will call Marty-Beta) isn't the first Marty to travel to 1955! I think another Marty, let's call him Marty-Alpha, had already traveled back from 1985 to 1955 & created a new splinter timeline, the film's timeline, much like the Biff Casino timeline.

Marty recognizes Goldie and says that Goldie will be the Mayor. It appears that this career was never on Wilson's radar until that moment. But since Marty sparked the idea in 1955, how was Wilson already Mayor in 1985 when Marty left 1985?

In the present of 1985, we see a car driving around calling citizens of Hill Valley to re-elect Mayor Golden Wilson. When Marty goes back to 1955, we meet Goldie Wilson when he was a young man working at a soda shop sweeping floors and encouraging George McFly to stand up to Biff.
