So making up alternative facts is a long standing US tradition. I'm reading The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, about the Chicago World Fair of 1893 and came across this passage, "big enough to hold the entire standing army of Russia".

In Newfoundland, capelin roll on the beaches early summer, to spawn. It's a celebration. Children squeal, adults splash about, we forget the water is cold. Those with nets help those without. Capelin can be fried, dried, corned, smoked, and pickled. Great fertiliser for the potato patch.

This is a favourite of mine on pork.
Tuscan Spiced Salt Recipe Makes about one cup 1/4 cup kosher salt 1 tablespoon coarse sugar, such as Demerara or turbinado 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes 1/4 cup Tellicherry peppercorns 2 tablespoons each fennel and coriander seed 2 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary 1 tablespoon dried minced lemon peel Put the salt, sugar and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl. Put the remaining ingredients in a small electric spice grinder or mini food processor and pulse until coarsely ground. Dump into the bowl with the salt, and mix until evenly blended. Use about 1 tablespoon per pound of pork, chicken, or beef.

It was finally a sunny day and warm enough to get into the greenhouse. Last night's low was 2C. While I am behind because I was traveling, today was a pleasure. 🌱🍁 NL 🇨🇦
Greenhouse temperature gauge showing 27.5 Celsius. High of 29 and low of 2 in a 24 hour period. The first of the seeds planted in seed snails and toilet rolls. Various beans, squash, and herbs.
