Yeah, and to tie it back into the larger discussion, a lot of the mean, self-hating stuff that gets passed around between trans fems is often framed as "tough love" necessary to not becoming one of the 'bad' trans fems.

Didn't help that the main thing our mom had to say to us when we did finally come out to her was "well I hope you know that life is gonna be a lot harder now" as if I hadn't been wrestling with that knowledge for months on years.

You know, I think I get plenty of 'tough love' enough already 🫂

We've talked before about how meeting a group of trans fems with this sort of mindset when we started experimenting and reaching out really discouraged us, 'cause we could see them resent and mock some of the qualities we began to see in ourself and made me feel if I did come out I'd be a 'problem'.

That's exactly it!!! You hear the call of creation!! It's powerful and motivating but those moments of doubt and exhaustion suck SO much. But the world is a better place with you and your work in it, so keep going. You got this. :)

We definitely get that too, 'cause it feels like we have this creative organ inside of us that needs to be exercised but so often atrophies because of self-doubt and exhaustion. It never goes away though, it just aches, and when we do exercise it we quickly remember it as an essential part of us.
