I'm back at the bench.

Finish prep is underway, starting with detailing the edges of the peghead.

Next comes rounding over the binding and edges of the back.

I'm trying a few new ideas on this dulcimer, and I look forward to finding out if they were good ideas!

Once the "corpse," the body of the dulcimer is completely assembled, it is time to start cleaning everything up with scrapers and files, then comes sanding, detailing, and finishing.

Sometimes, self-care means imagining Trump, Mike Johnson, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and the rest of the MAGA Reich as Daleks, and as you read quotes of what they have said, imagining hearing it said in a Dalek voice.

As I look at my hi-tech setup for warming hide glue, I see inspiration for a possible band name, " The Rival Crockettes!"

I'm back in the shop and making some progress on a prototype dulcimer to try a few new ideas.

The ends of the braces are fit into the linings, and I hope to glue the back on tomorrow.

I ventured into the back of the closet in my shop, which can be as perilous as Sir Richard Burton's search for the source of the Nile.

I was delighted to find stock sawn for dulcimer fretboard assemblies I had cut and stickered 13 years ago and had completely forgotten about!

I've recently started work on several dulcimers. This one will have sycamore for the back and sides.

This billet of figured claro walnut has been waiting for quite a few years to become a few dulcimers, and it's time has come!

First comes squaring it up, then resawing.
