hair vents aren't getting embroidered this round bc it's impossible to slip the hair fabric under the paper here so I'm going to draw them on a new piece of transfer paper later

anyway I'm starting by embroidering the bits that I can just cover with floppy bangs if they turn out shit

(towel + bringing the temperature down in the room + I have a fan at my desk pointed up and away from the workspace that I can wave my hands over)

next in "things I swear I've seen out of the corner of my eye all the time up until I actually need it": needle threader

I *think* I'm going to make the bangs their own layer and just embroider the hair vents in the base hairline. maybe. I have time to figure it out. also deciding if I want to put a magnet in the side of his head to stick flower accessories on.

yeah there was no way in hell I could freehand that left eye symmetrically. also thank god I had a recent screenshot that showed his face clearly abd didn't have to dig for one at the right angle

FOUND IT (out of the way spot was apparently in the way of something else I did between then and now so it'd drifted closer to its original spot, lmao)

added to and crossed off my list: look at a bunch of close-up screenshots and make a note so I don't forget which color eye is on which side (+ the scar)

I'd like to have him finished & clothed by the weekend bc there's an xiv meetup thing happening that I'm hoping to go to and it'd be nice to have momo-nui in tow but we'll see

need to:
- pattern the face & the hairline so I can cut out the hair
- iron interfacing on the face
- set up the embroidery film
- pattern a tail

and then also finish sewing the body to the extent that I can before having to attach the head/insert skeleton/stuff it

okay so the body is like.... 25-35% done. should I have started with the 10cm starfish model instead of the 20cm? probably? too late now tho lol. pausing for the night here bc the stream I was watching while I worked wrapped up

taking a face-last approach to construction to get more comfortable maneuvering with needle & thread before messing with embroidery. thankfully I have enough materials that I can fuck up quite a few times and still be okay
