Greener practice, better outcomes involves helping people recognise the benefits of sustainability for our health.
That's why I've been working on an OT intervention programme which includes the topic 'Protecting our Environment'.
It's the right time for this.

I rarely read OTnews from cover to cover, but the current issue in Black History Month was an exception.
I was struck by Kalimah Ibrahim's article describing the value of cultural humility - 'recognising the limits of one's worldview ... valuing difference and seeking to co-create solutions'.

What a time for this to arrive ☺️
I received the French translation of Recovery through Activity while my big brother was over on a visit from his home in France.

Super happy to have this photo forwarded to me of a poster at the recent AOTI conference about a successful (Re)Discovery programme (based on Recovery through Activity) for transgender adults by the National Gender Service.

Great to see the Occupational Circumstances Assessment Interview and Rating Scale (OCAIRS) get a mention in the #OTnews article about occupational therapists championing neurodiversity at work.

Really interesting to learn how a crisis service has successfully condensed the 12 topics in Recovery through Activity into 3 sessions.

Some lovely articles in OTnews this month, including this one detailing how the Worker Role Interview was used to establish a baseline for vocational engagement and to inform individualised goals

Always a joy to attend the online community of practice discussing 'Recovery through Activity' with occupational therapists in Sussex - this time hearing about facilitating 'the value of faith activities', co-facilitated with a chaplain 👏

In their integrative review, Litwiller et al (2017) found that community-based recreation increased self-esteem and self-confidence, expanded social networks and led to feelings of social inclusion, which contributed to recovery
