I’m curious to see that! I do love the short story (tho I’m sure the movie is totally totally different)

I loved Weapons too! I think I probably know the spoilers for Longlegs (but maybe not, don’t tell me)

Spoiler for 70-year-old SF novel: in “To Marry Medusa” the hivemind is treated as ultimately a good thing

In “The Harvest” the hivemind people eventually transcend their physical shells and go offplanet, leaving just a few thousand nonconformist people Left Behind to rebuild humanity

The second Dreamland RPG game at KublaCon Fall... Saturday 8PM... "The Island of Devils"! This one is based on a Dreamland sub-setting created by a cool author that I haven't announced yet. This game is currently full, but come check it out, maybe someone won't show! tabletop.events/conventions/...

I read Slaughterhouse in college where it was assigned. I somehow thought it was older, like 1950s— already by 1992 it was enshrined as Canon (understandably!). The only Ted Chiang story I have read sadly is his Tower of Babel one (which was great)!

I did use mostly the Gaelic fairy names, since those are so familiar yet evocative. Going into other countries’ fairy lore is opening up a nearly infinite universe!! I didn’t feel constrained by Gaelic lore or any lore tho. Dreamland’s fairies transcend Earthly nationality
