95% of biofuels are climate-negative: fueling deforestation and higher indirect emissions.

Grok no longer answers that question ambivalently - it now says “Yes, climate change is widely regarded as an urgent issue.”

The US built so much because planning and execution were legislated into dedicated corporations that used contractor $ to pay off politicians to ignore constituents objections as their communities were bulldozed. (Aka the Robert Moses playbook.)

There needs to be an overhaul of the penalty regime. Second offense should be €100 per head fine.

Every time fishery enforcement is relaxed, the industry rushes in to add capacity and undermines itself.

E.g. lobster harvests exploded after notching and size restrictions helped populations recover. It’s probably a matter of time before the recovered populations crash again.

I’m looking at my second boiler replacement in three years.

The installers I get tell me different things about what’s wrong with it. And that’s when I can even get a gas installer who knows what they’re doing.

The latest disagreement: is having 0.5 bars on a gravity fed boiler bad or not.

I think the main goal is to correct the primary energy fallacy - which has been used to overstate the amount of renewables required to replace fossil primary energy.

Is nuke power capacity generally measured by heat output or electricity? I think it’s the latter, right? Then this doesn’t apply.

I think the benchmark is a little over $0.05 per kWh.
November 9, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Are those numbers ~$0.03 to $0.05 per kWh?

What would you expect in return?

Is this China buying Russian oil to help them out despite having no demand for end product?

You cant eat biofuels either - 240,000 hectares of British farmland are growing them. Far, far in excess of solar footprint.

400C Energy seems to be responsible for the some of the stimulation tech.

Blade Energy partners did the well casing.

They seem to be using Scientific Drilling as their drilling partner - wonder who actually owns the high temp drilling tech vs. the fancy modeling & stimulation tech.

On the flip side there is absolutely a thing as “infertile” soils: sodic, high metal content, compacted/platy, poor draining, low CEC’s, etc. some
Of those are amendable but not all and not easily.

I would have thought that a 0.5%SOM sandy soil is more of a neutral than an infertile soil.

SF’s environmental record in NI is a travesty. I want the Greens back in, but I’m not holding any hope out for SF on the environment and climate.

I know the facts Karl. I have a different grading system.

I think you're going to be disappointed in Connolly. (I'm not a fan of Humphrey's either.)
