Some fuses are short but powerful.

Modern Monetary Theory.

Just a guy on the MMT cyberspace.
The EU Commissioner for Financial Services(...) is the Portuguese ex finance minister Maria Luís Albuquerque who helped implement the Troika austerity agenda during the bailout period. She wants all EU citizens and pension funds to invest their savings in markets. Insanity.

Portugal: government considers that moderate rents fall into 400 to 2300 euros per month. This range is used for fiscal benefits etc. 2300€ is almost twice the French net minimum salary.

Portugal: improvised rooms with 2 square meters (2 meters long by 1 meter width) are being rent for 300 euros per month in Lisbon.

The AI might not be just a hype about to crash any time soon. For example this is actually what some people are aiming at - a job post from LinkedIn. There's some probability that either working hours decrease and employment rate is sustained or working hours are maintained and unemployment rises.

The EU can intimidate any of its adversaries with its 3/60 fiscal rules. Any enemy can look at the healthy finances of Portugal and Greece and they will all chicken-out.

Acording to Mr. ChatGPT it's going to take a bit longer to overtake human habilities. Imho I think it's going to happen much sooner. And of course the benefits will be in the hands of the owners of these upcoming mega AI platforms.

This, I believe, is the "day the World has changed". In a couple of years, maybe 5 at most, there will be no need for sophisticated human brain capabilities to conduct fundamental or applied investigation, etc. Brain jobs taken by AI, manual jobs by robots. A new world is unfolding.

I always keep this chart in handy to remind that public debt and inflation are totally uncorrelated. In fact, if gov deficit is channeled to support sectors of high demand, naturally, given enough resources, there will be more of those services and products for sale, 'lowering' their prices.

Endless economic growth starts to look more like there isn't going to be much of a future.

Somebody shutdown the fan because it's going to be all over the place and it's going to be nasty, it's going to be dirty, it's going to look and smell bad.

Imho this is not correct. China doesn't sell its cars to USA or EU in echange for its currency. The USA or EU don't create Chinese currency Yuan (CNY). US and EU commercial banks issue debt in $ or € not CNY. Chinese CB (via goverment spending) + commercial banks finance their industries. Full stop.

More nonsense. National debt on a currency issuing government is the total spending into the economy minus collected taxes. If there's a perfect trade balance with partner economies, that's all there is to it.
