It’s def an outlier within Kubrick’s filmography but it still certainly has its merits along with his other films. Not one I’ll personally love or rewatch a lot but I do love how it’s become a cult classic especially during the holiday season.

The only example I can think of that suits this bill is probably Fantastic 4 Johnny Storm’s alien girlfriend Angelica in the comics.

As a man, I’m pretty sure there are examples, just that aside from being fewer than the women-falls-for-beasts trope, most of the examples are probably done as for comedic purposes rather than something more sincere as del Toro’s films.

Honestly can’t wait when someone releases a site(s) like the OLD dA in the future. I’m usually a pessimist but I still got hope, especially since ppl are becoming more fatigued of all the modern media/tech (unless you’re a mindless consoomer too influenced by the tech oligarchs).

While there’s no denying dA’s influence on art and the online culture (that’s how I discovered new art and styles growing up), the site has gone been enshittified a lot since post-2010. Something’s def gone wrong if both pros and hobbyists leave the site progressively over the years.

This kind of surveys should be taken with a HUGE grain of salt imo. Not all people, especially from rly underprivileged environments, are interviewed for these kind of things, aside from being a lil outdated. I rather trust my small circle of friends about the state of an industry than a survey.
