This is why I'm moving forward with self-publishing; first with monthly zines on my Patreon, and soon: new Thrizzles. I just need to connect with MY audience to make it work. But it has me excited, as I feel motivated to do really good work for the first time in a while.

I have a (verbal) contract for my next book, but proceeding on it has been incredibly slow, and I finally had to admit to myself that it's because there is no incentive. It will barely be reviewed, it will barely be distributed, I will not be invited anywhere (even in NYC, where I live).

I don't think most people in comics understand what I'm doing; I don't think many of them understand humor at all. So I'm working in a discipline that has no place for me, and to reach my audience I have to reach outside and connect with the non-comics people, especially in comedy.
