Taking a look at my grade 4 daughter's class newspaper, more kids (with bylines) have last names as first names, than traditional first names. This makes sense when most of the parents, like me, were usually called by their last name due to an abundance of kids with their own first names.

TIL that Lady Gaga's that the song I knew as "You and I" is stylized as "Yoü and I." The original mix was co-(super) produced with "Mutt" Lange. The single has lots of great remixes, none as good as the original, but with some super awesome for the time remixers (Metronomy, Wild Beasts)

While Charlie Kirk's death is certainly shocking, an odd aftermath is seeing various local businesses expressing condolences. This is especially odd since I live in Canada and these same businesses did not express any public condolences upon the recent death of a local boy.

ok, so this article popped up for me and i have multiple concerns: a) I hope lil nas x is ok b) there is no 1100 block of Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles c) Lil Nas X rose to fame with "Old Town road" in 2019. I'm sure this "writer" took about 30 seconds to "write" the article, but sheesh!

Question: why does the gerontocracy think that a Democratic primary loss of someone who had to resign due to sexual misconduct is shocking? Or conversely, a primary victory of a kid with showbiz parents is shocking? Or is the gerontocracy disingenuous with their shock?

This festival isn't exactly up my alley, but I'm happy that they color coded the Culinary Stage poster, otherwise I'd have no idea if I would be watching Chef Aaron Sanchez or 2016 AL ERA Champion Aaron Sanchez cook.

I'm at my kids' elementary school dance and all of the kids are singing along to "i'm still standing," probably because they know it from "Sing." When i was growing up, it was almost never played on the radio, and my parents never owned any albums on which it appeared.

As a baseball fan from the san fernando valley who was explicitly in the target demographic for the movie "Little Big League" upon its release, I am greatly rooting for PCA's success in the majors: www.nytimes.com/athletic/633...
"And We Danced" by the Hooters is a phenomenal song. The album it comes from has some clunkers, so it's understandable that in an album-centric rock world, the Hooters never had the sort of reverence that say, the Replacements had. "Tim" doesn't have a single clunker.
