Lost in America

Looking for my bike, last seen in the basement of the Statue of Liberty.🗽
Google AI told me to buy the wrong oil filter for my car in spite of me proving it with the year, make, and model.

I guess my eye roll didn’t translate through what I typed. I was being sarcastic. Here, in America, we lower our flags and raise our prayers, all while exclaiming that nothing can be done about a problem that is very rare in all other developed countries.

Well, flags are at half-staff, too. It’s not like they are doing nothing….

I only stopped eating at Cracker Barrel when the food quality and portion sizes changed. In my lifetime, Cracker Barrel evolved from tasting home cooked to tasting like standard cafeteria fare. They should take notes from Luby’s about how that worked out.

I wonder what the penalty would be if the projectile had been a powdered jelly donut? I bet he might have gotten away because the LEOs would be piled up in a feeding frenzy.

My wife was commenting on the same thing. The “People’s House” is being turned into a palace. That was definitely not what the founding fathers intended.
August 7, 2025 at 5:26 PM
Historically, the White House has been known as the people’s house. Our founding fathers made a deliberate decision to make it smaller than the palaces of Europe because it was never intended to house a “king”. …but here we are. I’m so glad that I moved out of the DC area in 1990.

Weather balloons are an important tool for calibrating satellite data sensors. Satellite derived datasets are important for establishing the initial fields in numerical models. The model runs are going to only be as good as the data used to initialize them.

There were several recommendations made after the 1987 flood to ensure that it never happened again, including installing a network of sirens to alert campers along the river. Unfortunately, most were never implemented, including the sirens, because they were deemed to be too expensive.

The new hires will mostly be internal promotions to cover management and senior forecaster positions that were left vacant by the deferred retirements. I don’t think there will be many outside hires because of the specialized skills required for many of the positions.

I’m sure that large American SUVs will be a blast to drive on the narrow back roads of Vietnam.

Whatever you do, thank you for being you.
June 13, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Well…poop! …and the USA probably sold them the bombs to do so.

Poison ivy in my yard.

I followed you over from Twitter. Like you, I drink my coffee daily while wishing for a peaceful world. Unfortunately, the oligarchs on all sides disagree, so here we are.

Hell no!

NASA and its other contractors never blew up as much hardware as SpaceX. I’m guessing that the original Falcon 9 engineers have all left the building? Falcon 9 was impressive. Starship is getting embarrassing. 😳

They are determined to make acid rain cool again.

That’s the Art of the Steal! The federal government puts a lein on you for unpaid taxes, but it doesn’t provide you with anything in return. Anyways, I’ve heard that Trump’s “free” jet needs a bunch of work before he can use it, so your tax money might buy a tire for the cause.

If only there was something that we could do?!? (Hand wringing) /s

Dear Leader can pardon them and reimburse them for any financial penalty that they faced.

Most Americans don’t have health insurance unless they work, so that limits the available time to protest. For the same reason, I doubt that many Americans would support a national strike, because losing health insurance is a life and death matter.

I have yet to make that observation in my district, but so far, people haven’t been inconvenienced. I’m thinking that the tide will eventually turn, but I’m not holding my breath.

I honestly only know what I see, living in a blue dot in an area with a sizable MAGA population. Trump/DOGE are still very popular to the Fox “News” crowd, because they still believe that they are slashing government waste and deporting dangerous immigrants.
