Nearly all collaborator challenges I have had stem from some diverging norm about academic work, methods, or personal individual process/work habits. And this compact forces that conversation. Just like I try to do “compacts” — a collection of norm setting for collaboration questions we talk about — with my student workers, I’m also moving towards this with peers/other faculty collaborators.
