Ah. Our lemon trees, which are not attractive to squirrels, also follow this one year on, one year off cycle. The persimmons and figs, though, all get snarfed up by squirrels. We do have 2 persimmons that have made it this long, and we are about to harvest them!

In my experience, squirrels are usually the culprits in these situations. Dastardly varmints.

I make these all the time, and I agree, they can be a little dry, but usually they're pretty yummy.
