The great Vine Deloria, Jr. on federal Indian law, and law in general.

Still, or maybe now truly, relevant.

No, it is not for commercials! It is out of concern for players! See, we are good people.

Ruining the game - it is not four quarters people, it is two halves.

I wish all those people who define abundance as continued growth and unquestionably necessary would just take a bit of time and read Marshall Sahlins' 1972 The Original Affluent Society.
As a starting point.

Not capitulation. Just reason.
"If you hope for coal use to decline without sacrificing growth, then this is the only way.
Otherwise you`re just creating an unsustainable, transient peak, or capitulating to the idea that abundance must be sacrificed for a climate agenda."

As an alum, I want to revel in IU and what they have done.

But I just cannot get there with what else is going on at IU.

The best way to get (partially) around the rare earth dependency would be to research and invest in sodium batteries.

And to reduce our insane quest to computerize everything.

I am not sure where his family migrated from - with others in a mass migrqtion out of a broken state - but it sure looks like he is teying to recreate the terrors of their broken homeland.

At scale, though, a bunch of pseudo-scientific, racist bullcrap.

Ich schlage einfach mal vor, den Untergang der Zivilisation an der Nummer von "black week" Reklamen in deutschen und schweizerischen Medien zu messen.

Don't know what further atrocities and depravations happened today. But we were both happy exploring new forestlands.

the morning sun
cautiously
extending over stubbled fields
around broken promises
frozen in
the cold hearts
surrounding the flag

politics,
they say
shuffling in warm corridors

wiping tears
from hungry faces
parents, frozen in despair
carefully
preparing a child

another day -
the heartland

On Free Speech, Higher Ed, and Aesthetics:

Me watching a #IU football game with my daughter (whose parents are both #Indiana alums).
She: IU would be a really good school to go to.
Me: It used to be. ... No.
She: Yes, I know. (sigh) But the campus is nice.
Me: Yes, the campus is beautiful.

The right to eat: meh.

Nobody on here ever exhort me to vote for Dems again.

I don't give a holler if you want to waste your vote. I won't. If youbwant my vote, change your party and be useful.

I can only agree.
We are excited for this event next week. It is good (and necessary) to see Native issues included in discussions of constitutional rights.

As people go to work in New York today, they should be trying to avoid the mass migration caravans of capitalist refugees fleeing the city.

Or so I have been promised.

This is very probably the most consequential thing (outside of the climate crisis) that has happened in the past two decades.

Goodbye American superpower, for better or for worse. It was a matter of time.

Apart from the compact, increasingly uni admins are trying to silence students and faculty.

Not just in Indiana.

When the constitution will be rewritten, we need proportional representation as an anchor for the whole thing.
