New furry family members have survived first vet visit. Baker T (for Twiddle Toes) ate vet treats. Vanilla Bean did not.

I literally cannot watch news clips because the ads pop up first and freeze, and because the ads never go away, the news clip won't start. This may or may not be a good metaphor for the state of things in the US right now.

Anyone else starting to feel like distinguishing between reality and fiction is a little more difficult than it should be?

TLDR: Scientists genetically engineered house spiders to spin glowing red spidersilk.

APOPO trains rats to sniff out landmines, diagnose medical illnesses, and do search and rescue after natural disasters. These programs are being affected by the disastrous decisions by the current US administration to cut funding. Please consider donating and boosting the signal. apopo.org

Why do Tums not have glow in the dark letters on their label for that 3 am visit to the medicine cabinet?

I had no idea that having a garage sale is such a great way to meet your neighbors.

A true horror story in two sentences.

Recently my husband learned why he can't put the towels he used to clean the crawl space--towels filled with countless old, dead bugs, into the washer without shaking them out. In related news, I have discovered a new use for lint rollers.

Been traveling. Just returned a rental car that became more uncomfortable every day. It wasn't the terrible seats, the plastic spike that jabbed the driver's hip whenever you got in, or the touchy acceleration--it was the random spiders that finally crossed the line. WTF little rental car?

Apparently I hoard hobbies. And no I'm not giving that one in the corner up. It's just dusty, not forgotten.

Don't leave a trail of breadcrumbs. Leave a trail of half-finished projects and abandoned hobbies. That stuff is guaranteed to stick around for eternity.

The dust bunnies. They be dead. Now I'm going to run around in a Narwhale moisturizing mask because this is my life and I am taking great joy on it.

I think we can all agree mistakes get made and messes happen, but if the result is feces in a grocery store aisle, please notify a store employee so cleanup activities can happen, hopefully before several shopping carts roll on through. I promise it will improve everyone's day. Okay?

Took my son out for a driving lesson and wore a Neon Genesis Evangelion anime t-shirt that said: "Get in the f*ing robot Shinji." Not sure if I scored or lost parenting points.

I think one of American society's biggest downfalls was moving away from communal multi-generational living. We forgot how to be social creatures. We are isolated from family, and many folks have developed behaviors that deserve isolation. Explains a lot about holiday dinner tensions, doesn't it?

I think I figured out why I find creating content for my social media accounts so difficult. I currently have no pets.

Art may go up in value after the artist dies, but we all benefit more when artists live and create more art.

Pickle update: I had pickles! And then I think I left them to ferment too long and TLDR: the daikon was soft and I became afraid of my pickles. They might have been fine. But I would rather lose a batch and try again than make myself sick and have a negative pickling experience. Farewell pickles!

In the latest chapter of "why does this happen to me?" I was doing 70 on the freeway when a dessicated moth exploded out of the AC vent in multiple parts and scattered across my neck and chest. No wreck, but not an experience I recommend.

Fermenting lesson learned: don't trust the moat water. It gets sassy and tries to climb the inner walls to taste the pickles. Moat water was doing unauthorized siphon / suction experiments this morning, but disaster stopped by a paper towel and good jar design.

Looked for advice on fermented pickles. Discovered all good signs for fermenting are considered deadly failures for pickling and all good signs of pickling mean a spoiled ferment. Sniffed brine. Tried a small fermented pickle. Will report back if I die.

First experiment with pickling. Will report back on whether I get pickles or new fuzzy frens.

Everyone should try doing something fashionably flamboyant at some point. It is amazingly freeing to silence your own insecurities with the realization that all the points and whispers and giggles are not personal attacks but just strangers enjoying your fashion choice from a distance.
