I've always loved this particular Briar Patch matte painting they used in Insurrection. Those pockets of free space between dense columns of gas. I want to try to put a version of this as the background of my gas giant environment. Hopefully I can pull it off.

Alright, this is my first ever #WIPSnips, so please bear with me.

Roughly a minute later, the Enterprise-E (model by IRML) warps into the scene.

So more like that? I think that's also pretty fine.

I've always liked the bug metaphor. In a TNG Dominion War movie I'd probably have a scene in which the villain's battlecruiser appears for the first time, and all those tiny attack bug ships detach from the wings to engage the Enterprise.

Internet! How do we feel about this scale relation?
November 19, 2025 at 10:08 AM
It always starts with the most rough and terrible blocking of shots where nothing fits. The final will be ~3 minutes of starship pew pew to Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack. #wip #previz #animation #b3d #blender #fanart #tng #dominion #enterprise #cardassian #battle #action #goals #conceptart #scifi

I've been uncertain about the use of #holograms in my #scifi #novel #wip that I #amwriting, as they are impossible to create in real life (sorry), so I went for a system that projects them into the character's eyes. Pat myself on the back for it. And then I read this sentence in my draft. Silly me.

Can't make that up.

Random find on an external harddrive. Renders I made in 2010 that kinda sparked the idea for that animation.

Further messing. My concept would add a separation line between the saucer and the engineering section. Added additional struts to the vertical nacelle to make it appear more stable, as well as a smooth transition into the back of the neck. Underlying model still by the magnificent Lewis Niven.

I'd kinda like this angle.
October 20, 2025 at 12:26 AM
Further fooling around. The rough idea is that the third nacelle pylon is much thinner and smoothly integrated into the already existing torpedo tube "bump" on the back. Ent-D mesh by Lewis Niven.

I've been experimenting with the idea of a streamlined 6-footer All Good Things Enterprise. What if the parts were not tacked on but properly added? Already received strong headwind on this, haha. #tng #agt #galaxyx #enterprise #b3d #alternate

Schrödingers LightWave version.
October 15, 2025 at 12:28 PM
I unearthed the 18 year old scene done in #LightWave. Obviously I lost the planet and the stars, as you do. It was rendered at the mindblowing resolution of 1024x427 pixels. No motion blur, no fancy PBR rendering, no GI, nothing. Gonna take that to #blender and see what happens.

Looking through old files, and found this video I made in 2023.
