It wasn't overt or malicious at all, not in the way JDV spoke. It was subtle. From gentle prodding ("you know, God loves you and died for your sins"), to exclusion, like long-standing members being a little standoffish.

The church I went to was moderate by Christian standards. But that didn't stop people from thinking that anyone who came to our church needed to be gradually indoctrinated. As in, maybe if we do these nice things for this non-Christian, they'll be curious.

The branch I'm at now has had an increasing number of brazen thefts, both from opportunists and organized groups. On top of that we just have a lot of people who aren't doing so great in the neighborhood and we've had to forcibly remove them.

And just now, another branch posted that the front entrance is inaccessible for the time being due to a security incident. I used to work at that branch - we had a violent theft there years ago and had to lock the perp in the space between the front door and the door to the sales floor.

This week at work a customer (who I'm pretty sure is losing his grip on reality - long and kinda sad story there) got into an argument with my assistant manager and literally cursed him. Like, purification bells and "I curse you in the name of Satan".

There's already a cult of personality around Orange Man. Look at all of the merchandise that's available to buy. The Oval Office is a shrine unto himself. The Rose Garden is paved over. His face is on buildings.

Imagine having to read The Art of the Deal to work for the US Government.
