"#CILIPConf23 is a community of change-makers... What are the grand, unsolved problems that will drive us to new heights of creativity & move our profession forwards?" -- @NickPoole1 calls for suggestions, as well as leading a round of applause for members of the #CILIP125 List

"This might seem idealistic but I truly believe libraries are the backbone of humanity" - @Im_Negomi's first shift in a library felt like she'd come home. So glad to welcome so many idealists to their home as future leaders and members of the #CILIP125 list! #CILIPConf23

For tonight's winners of the @CILIPinfo #CILIP125 list, my advice to you is "Shout about it at every opportunity" - let people know your achievements! Wise words from @ayubkhan786 here at #CILIPConf23

It's possibly the wine and/or the two years of pandemic talking, but the sight of librarians dancing the night away in front of a #WeAreCILIP backdrop is somehow one of the most energising and joyful things I've seen in a long time 🙂 #CILIPConf22

Its been too long since I was last privileged to hold up a @CILIPinfo
Selfie Frame, but what an auspicious day this is to be surrounded and supported by one's passionate, professional, and like-minded colleagues! #WeAreCILIP, and #CILIPConf22 is proving excellent!

I offer this screenshot with no further comment bar "always, always double check which account you're logged in with". (Unless your instinct says not to, obviously.) And now, for definitely unrelated reasons, I am going to pour a large drink & raise it as if in a giant toast.

Busy day of stockwork here with @charlotteprew, @JoWood04, & colleagues, & we're unearthing some amazing adverts that got buried in our stacks. Particularly enjoying the futuristic style for this standards database!* *"requires IBM XT or higher, with CD-ROM drive, & MS-DOS 3.0"

I'm a librarian, & a parent whose child loves discovering new books in the school library. The refuge & kindness my school librarian gave me was a haven when I was young, & inspired my whole career. Now I support health research daily. Every child deserves a #GreatSchoolLibrary.

A fantastic ending to @plambeSG's keynote at #cilipconf19. When a society is in crisis, attend to [the people on] the margins.

"Illiteracy and mistrust of learning are key public health issues emerging in our society today. #PublicHealth officials need to understand the value that library and knowledge professionals can bring to society to help combat those issues" - @plambeSG speaking at #CILIPConf19

Joining the #CILIPConf19 Polaroid wall with a declaration of #MyCILIP: an activist organisation engaged with the challenges & inequalities in our society. #LibrariesChangeLives, and I'm proud to be a Trustee, to put #CILIPEthics at our heart, & use bold voices. #LibraryActivism

Core values of librarianship, underpinned by skills & professional ethics - but it doesn't mean "having a Masters". Professionalism is important, but mustn't be fetishised at the expense of allowing our profession to be inclusive. Our skills shouldn't mean barriers. #CILIPConf19

Sharing know-how is essential to success in supporting healthcare. As knowledge & information specialists we have to work across geographical/employer boundaries to deliver evidence, mobilise our skills & knowledge so clinical staff succeed in supporting patients. #CILIPConf19

Mapping the top 10 technologies identified in the #TopolReview aand their expected impact on proportions of the NHS workforce over the next 20 years with @SueLaceybryant Some fascinating developments which should release/increase clinician time for empathic care #CILIPConf19

Arrived at #CILIPConf19 and looking forward to meeting people! (And also, having seen this, to having a quiet recharge and decompress and not meeting people now and then!)

As I leave, a personal "high"-light of #eahil2019: the absolutely beautiful views from the towers of Baseler Münster! Massive thanks to @eahil2019 for a fantastic event, and thank you, too, to all my fellow delegates - it has been a pleasure building bridges & sharing learning!
March 18, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Today's awesome conference thing: keynote's in a room w/ those clever built in tables & I have space for taking notes without trying to balance a book on my knee. (Ludicrously trivial compared to the awesome program for #eahil2019, but I'm enough of a nerd to be happy anyway!)
March 18, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Upside of a painfully early flight: some time to explore Basel, which is is lovely! And, after a week of rain that flooded my library & dripped gloomily off the shelves, this is more the kind of water feature I like! Looking forward to meeting folks for #EAHIL2019 tomorrow :-)

First link in my (mildly circuitous) journey to #eahil2019 has been interrupted by the surprise appearance of #ClunCastle running a special through Oxford Parkway, of all places! (Which is awesome because a moment before I was kicking myself for missing the 16:17...)

Hmmm. This is... sort of accurate, in that I'm from Shropshire with heavy Black Country roots. Interestingly it appears to be picking up a bunch of faint outside influences, which apparently got into my day-to-day vocab without my noticing. Curious. https://t.co/aBb30SVfOf

Feb. 8th always makes me introspective. So this year, I'm doing two things: 1) Enrolling for #FCLIP registration. #ImWithCILIP (1/3)

Bitterly cold start to the day heading off to London for @CILIPinfo board meeting - and apparently the station actually belongs to infinite numbers of spiders who live in the footbridge...

Leadership isn't just heading up a company in the late stage of your career: @NKorn is giving the @CILIPinfo #LeadersNetwork an overview of her experience. "Being a good leader means doing what you ask others to do... And being brave, and true to yourself, & what you believe."
March 18, 2025 at 1:23 PM
Meet The President with @CILIPinfo president @davidKfH: CILIP (as the LA) was founded by medical librarian Sir John MacAlister, who was also founder of the @RoySocMed. In keeping with his vision, David's first theme for the year is research, and our professional evidence base.

The launch of the new CILIP Ethical Framework is introduced by @dawnafinch here at #CILIPAGM - so much work has gone into this from members & the Ethics Committee. #CILIPEthics are now clearer, stronger, and more active, and I'm extremely proud of this work, and this profession.
