I’m currently trashing emails (gmail at 95%) and found this. Back in 2009/2010, after trying to write stories like Hemingway and Carver, I wrote one about three brothers growing up in Kahalu‘u. In those days, BR only accepted work via snail mail and took quite a while to respond…

I don’t really like social media, but sometimes it’s magic.

This is even funnier and more coincidental because the title story of my collection is about reconnecting a fragmented family and repairing lost relationships and friendships through oral history and genealogical work.

I rarely recommend a book (or return to one more than twice), but this is one I always keep close. It’s brilliantly written, and helps me to remember my senses and bring them back to life. Right now, I’m reading it my daughter, so she never forgets. #amwriting #amreading #writerslife
