Getting a bit of writing in and am interested in the RAF trials in dropping ‘window’ from the Wireless OP’s position in B17 and B24 aircraft. This was occurring in November 1943. Uncle Steve was attached to the Bomber Development Unit for a few weeks at this time.

As this time of year comes around I’m forced to contemplate my experiences. It’s like an annual alarm clock to remind me to be melancholic. I want to talk about it. I want to bury it. I don’t really know. There is no set way to do remembrance and no one should tell you otherwise.

Went to the opening of an art exhibition tonight at The Palmer Gallery and can’t not notice that it is housed in a building with this kind of history. Accidental nerding. @nmtdambusters.bsky.social

Will take these original Dakota dinghy drills next time I go to visit the Dakota at RAF Metheringham just in case I’m inside and the place suddenly floods.

Sensibly I’ve taken a post We Have Ways day off work given the timing and the weather I am hunkered down watching… well what else. This scene though isn’t far off Sunday morning as everyone tries to get their stuff packed and in the car before the rain.

Had a brilliant weekend at We Have Ways with friends old and new. I took hardly any photos but spoke to some dedicated living historians & enthusiasts and attended some excellent lectures and panels. A special mention in dispatches for the catering).
