Seattle #Mariners ramblings & hack narratives. Occasional side bar on the Seahawks & Reign. Likes: 80's hair bands, Japanese culture, bourbon, & the EDRM.
The Dodgers built their roster w/ the LA market providing them the $ to pay for Smith, Freeman, Ohtani, Betts, Hernandez, Conforto, Muncy, Glasnow, Yamamoto, Snell, Scott, etc.

If the Dodgers were in Pittsburgh, they'd be lucky to afford Rosario. lol

Maybe take off those LA tinted sunglasses.

You provided facts of 2024. You only have opinion re this offseason & 2025. And me & the vast majority of fans are upset that - bc of location - LA starts every season with a 3rd party paying them $334M which goes straight to payroll.

I'm glad you see that the majority of fans are not happy.

Yeah, I've read a lot of similar comments from Padres fans and those of other teams.

2024 is not 2025. But I guess your opinion explains why Dodgers players like Joe Kelly are lashing out against all the fans complaining about the Dodgers spending and payroll. 🙄

Maybe step outside your L.A. bubble.

80% of the owners are billionaires. Yet only 1% of them spend like the Dodgers.

Wanna guess why?

The Mariners two other leverage arms - Brash & Santos - will both be arb 3 in '28 & will no longer be cheap & also headed to FA the next year. Will the M's trade them as well? Lots of decisions facing this org.

I'd guess the same. It would be his last year on a $10M salary before hitting free agency.

Yeah, it could be. Although I would think that his superior K rate and plate discipline might be attractive since that fits what the Mariners are seemingly looking for. But who knows.

With the Cards willing to kick in $15M, & the Rockies paying $10M, & $12M being deferred until 2038, the Mariners would only be on the hook for an AAV of $12.6M for '25-'27. Assuming Arenado would agree to a trade, not sure why the M's wouldn't be highly interested in that.

A backup C to be used against LHP is going to give you, what, 40 games at most. If you stick Arraez at DH against RHP, that's similar production but for 3x as many games. That's gonna be more valuable, & a better use of money, imo.
