Trying to watch more cricket than I write about. 🏏 Seeing two books through the presses. One is about Nancy Sharp [https://tinyurl.com/2736jaw4]. C.L.R. James and John Arlott both get a mention in the other one [https://tinyurl.com/465bnwzv].

Very much critical to a full enjoyment of Coroner's Pidgin I think.

Next is The Fashion in Shrouds, then Traitor's Purse before Coroner's Pidgin.

Do make sure you've read the other Amanda books first, especially (?) Traitor's Purse. Enjoy!

Arrive at JFK T 5 to connect to a domestic flight from the same terminal and you have to clear security again after passport and customs. But I am sure Noah Smith can explain why this is a perfectly reasonable set up. [I don't know if this is true of other terminals at JFK, hence the specificity.]

I'm pretty sure sure Coroner's Pidgin is the best love story in English--so long as the reader is familiar with the books preceding it in which Amanda appears. Her only spoken line in the book is perfect in place and tone.

Would probably have finished reading this already if I didn’t keep having to stop to put the pages back in.

Also, anyone who knows anything about LHR knows that however "clear, logical, and comprehensible" the signage, connecting through the airport is not something any sane person would do if a reasonable alternative exists, such as, err, DUB - CDG direct.

Now I’m wondering what’s the oldest possible war you could still considered to be a casualty of if you got injured on a weapon from it current day. Like is there a cutoff for this kind of thing. Because I would like to live to an old age and then go out with a good story so I’m just wondering

I agree but currently live where a lot of people over 50 are essentially illiterate. It is not uncommon for older people who can read to do so performatively, just to prove to their peers that they can. I had not understood this when I asked someone why people here still read newspapers in public.

And now ESPNCricinfo reporting on an expanded WTC (yes!) reveals that the only reason this is happening is that a two-tier system would have required "India, England and Australia [to] support those in division two through a financial distribution, but those talks did not go far."

Then again, the ICC manages to arrange world cup after world cup with no chance for entire regions to send a team, so I take it back. Also, who wouldn't want to see San Marino on a world cup in any sport?

You read it correctly but it sounds as if he booked it via BA and got a code share flight. Presumably a few points / status mattered more than convenience , common sense, and practicality.

This is excellent about the way: alondoninheritance.com/the-thames/t... And not the same part of Essex, but something in this piece captures the isolation that Margery Allingham relied on in Mystery Mile.
