A year's worth of picturebook assembly suggestions that have a focus on diversity, equality, inclusion and empathy. Hopefully it's of use, even to just dip into occasionally. The link is here: padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r... #edusky

Love this.
The potential to use the work of illustrators (Tan, Selznick, Smith and Morris here) as inspiration for art is huge. Don’t just stick to those well know artists of old. There’s a place for all. #PrimaryArt

Little update on this area now school has started. It’s a HIT! Especially this wall. My class love it for lots of reasons. I’ve taken out the ‘toy baskets’ though as these had the opposite impact and overstimulated most of the class. So now it’s drawing and books and basket tasks and it’s great!!

I second this! Our new behaviour policy weaves this through with a golden thread - I made damn sure of it! Excited to see it play out in reality. Which chapter stuck with you most?

This is not just a reading corner. I can’t wait to help support children and teach them how this space is used. To regulate. To use it as safe place. To develop their growth mindset. All of this needs to be taught& supported- every day. I’m looking forward to doing just that. Back to it tomorrow 💪

So pleased to read about the move away from one word judgements. The blunt and reductive nature of a one word judgment set against the nuanced and context specific nature of our broad range of settings never made sense to me. I’m so glad change is on the horizon.

I attended #Grammarsaurus CPD last academic year. The Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar just makes sense. It’s accurate subject knowledge at its finest! This year we plan on teaching the basics correctly for the first three weeks. Is anyone else teaching it? I’m just making my lessons.

Love that.
Like many schools, we've moved towards using reading journals over the past few years, rather than reading records. They're great for developing reading relationships between pupils, staff and parents. I've put a link on my Padlet to some prompts we use in KS2. #Edusky

Thanks for the recommendation for graphic novels for KS1! @jonnybid.bsky.social
They arrived and I think the cohort will love them! also purchased a Makedo construction set too for some STEM work. My daughter and I will share it with my class! So I’ve bought a book for inspiration which is great!

Anyone else feeling excited to get back to work. I have a nice buzz this year. I’m enjoying the summer but I’m looking forward to the new academic year too. I’m yet to plan everything obviously! But I am looking forward to getting stuck in eventually.

Throw back to an Nrich maths lesson: multiplication.
I gave the children time and flexibility in presentation. We discussed some strategies but it wasn’t set in stone. How their minds work fascinates and blows me away! Year 2 problem solvers- I’m so proud.

We're here! 🎉

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing lots of our resources along with some challenges, discussion questions and other help and support.

We can't wait to share what we've been working on!

Little desk corner glow up! And a ‘you all belong here’ working wall. As suggested by TGMC I will ask members of our class what they love about each person over the first 28 days. Each child will get a postcard with the words and phrases on to take home.

A fun way to explore Human and Physical features in #Geography
Kids loves exploring google earth initially. Then on to tracing paper over the screenshot to label and identify. Quick support resource made using #Widget to help.

If you put egg boxes at the back of your bookshelves, you can fit twice as many.

Now you have an excuse to buy more books! #booksky

I shared this on *the other app* a few days ago but needed to post it here! This is a CORKER of a book and would be brilliant as a class read in year 4 and above. @pgbellwriter.bsky.social 👏🏻✨

This year, it’s my fourth in year 2. Prior to this I was ks2 based.
I feel like I’ve reignited my teaching spark. A few reasons for this- I’ve read some brilliant books. This one in particular. I’ve also delved in to Canva & have loved making resources on it. I’m excited for September.

Well! Isn’t this refreshing! I see passionate teachers and not a terrifying newsfeed or angry rant / political fire stoking post from Musk in sight. How wonderful!
#Edusky I’m excited.
