For Buck, it’s the easiest thing in the world to understand. It’s right up there with the knowledge that ‘the sky is blue, the ocean is deep, space is vast.’... and Buck belongs to Eddie.

He just doesn’t know how to ask for it to be public knowledge.

He doesn’t know if it should be public knowledge.

“It wasn’t okay,” Eddie says vehemently as he tugs lightly on Buck’s hair, and it sends sparks skittering down along Buck’s spine. “You’re mine, Buck. He’s lucky he was able to walk away with all his limbs intact.”

Buck can’t stop the words from slipping out, “Am I?” His voice is small, even to his own ears and he quickly looks away because he can’t bear the disappointment or exhaustion that his need for reassurance is going to leave in Eddie’s gaze.

After their night out gets derailed by someone's unwelcome touching, Buck and Eddie have to work through why it sent Buck into a spiral, and do something to fix it.

More music carries on the wind and Margaret clutches at the mother-of-pearl sheath at her side. Her fingers dance across the bejeweled hilt of her scimitar and she wonders for just a moment about the satisfaction she’d get from sending him away, rather than going straight for the kill, but the hope that would linger in her daughter at the thought of her baby brother being out there, it would send Maddie into madness, and that is something she’s not sure she could comfortably watch. She knows that to end the child’s life now, in an accident in front of the entire court, will net her sympathy and after a short time Maddie will be too busy as the commander’s wife, to let her grief linger.
