Maybe it has to do with how established the plant is? I bought 2 goodies from a nice nursery and they thrive off of my neglect. No drainage, watered with chlorinated tap water (hence the brown tips), south facing window as well, sometimes overwatered sometimes underwatered mostly watered well.
