i think that once you start intertwining ideas about *ethics* and attitudes about what "good" sexual relationships look like, you've already internalized puritan beliefs -- even if you don't think you have. and i don't think most people are as enlightened as they think they are.

Talking with a pet is also a nice way to get access to a character’s innermost thoughts. In my admittedly limited experience, people don’t lie to their pet. :)

Depending upon my mood, it can be water with peach syrup or lemon juice, tea, infusion, hot cocoa (oat milk), chicory but never coffee.

je veux plus entendre personne dire qu'on exagère quand on parle de fascisme, y avait déjà assez de preuves comme ça, mais là on est au stade où un compte officiel du gouvernement fait des blagues sur des déportations ??

That’s what makes it a nice romance in my opinion. She only got with him after he worked on himself and his motivations to do so were within himself, meaning it was genuine and not meant to attract her thus more likely to last.

I want to rewatch it with my thirtysomething perspective but only after I’ve read the book.

I like the idea that he gives up the trappings of his former life for his own sake because he realised he was burning the candle through both ends.

Meaning she doesn’t fix him, he fixes himself.

I grew up with AA. My parents got sober when I was 10 & I was well-versed in the warning signs of alcoholism before I was a proper teen. BC of that, I have always been hyper-aware & evaluative of my drinking. I've always wondered if I would have ended up an alcoholic if I hadn't grown up that way.
