Coming to terms with the fact that while it was really cool to have follow backs from a few people I hold in high regard back in that other place, it doesn't really matter as I usually don't post anything anyway 🇨🇦

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

I find it incredibly ironic that Pierre Poilievre is against DEI when the only reason he is in parliament is because he parachuted into a riding that a cadaver running as a conservative would win with 85% of the vote. It would be really nice for a journalist to mention that fact to him.

Starbucks’ CEO made 6,666x more than the company's median employee in 2024.

This was the widest CEO-to-Worker pay gap in the entire S&P 500.

Remember this before you order your next pumpkin spice latte.

A child in the US faces higher death risks than other high income countries. Widespread guns are one, increased vaccine restrictions and hesitancy are another, and barriers to equal healthcare access are another.
How a country looks after its children tells us a lot about its values.

A study from JAMA Pediatrics compares states that have permissive gun laws with others that have strict regulations. The states with tougher rules did not see a rise in gun deaths among children and teens.

John Roscoe: Poilievre demonstrated bug-with-too-many-legs levels of creepiness, and he's *still* demonstrating it.
Nelson Wiseman: Poilievre carried too much political baggage. His attack-dog persona in the run-up to the campaign demonstrated a lack of internal calibration; he looked like a schoolboy next to Carney who comported himself with erudition and sobriety.

Polls, the campaign, and Pierre Poilievre
Pierre Poilievre dramatically narrowed the lead the Liberals had built—10 per cent at one point—but he carried too much political baggage. His attack-dog persona in the run-up to the campaign…

But, if you look at just about any number that would meaningfully tell you how well our economy is doing, Canada does better than the U.S.

Black people are 3.23x as likely as white people to be killed during a police encounter

Black women are 3x more likely to die of a pregnancy or postpartum-related cause than white women.

Part of Poilievre’s issue is that Canadians get that how we present on the world stage matters far more as we move to open up our trading relationships. The anti-WEF no “globalist Davos elites” guy sounds at worst Trumpy, at best like a rube & that’s not going to fill Canada’s dance card or coffers.

Reminder as we watch measles rates climb in Canada that *this* is Poilievre's attitude towards vaccination during a public health emergency.

MMR vaccination has long been mandated for health care workers.

Would a Poilievre govt ban the MMR mandate in health care during a huge measles outbreak?
