Attacking pre-school teachers because they don’t think Palestinian kids should be bombed to death? Declaring NYC’s first Muslim mayor “our enemy?” Fomenting hatred, even within the Jewish community?

You’re not making anyone safer.🧵

This afternoon, I informed the Prime Minister of my decision to resign as Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, Minister responsible for Official Languages, Minister of Nature and Parks Canada, as well as his Lieutenant in Quebec.

I would love to see some progressive politicians run on reducing bureaucracy. It’s a right wing purview & generally limited to being “for business” rather than for people, but the people most burdened by it are poor/disabled, but as with everything else these days, that struggle is trickling up. 1/
This is...sort of brilliant.

The last month of the anti-Mamdani campaign was an absolutely shameful undertaking, an attempt to rip the city and Democratic coalition apart and I'm very happy to see it failed.

Vancouver's by-election was poorly organized with 1/2 the locations & 800% less staff than 2017. As a result there's been extremely long lines. I wrote a quick post about the consequences of this for access & how considering disabled people in design prevents this.

Currently in line at the 3rd voting place I’ve been to today. I couldn’t wait the 1-2 hours earlier so didn’t, but also not sure I’m going to be able to wait long enough to vote right now. It’s beyond infuriating. Completely unacceptable. #vanpoli
It never occurred to me that I wouldn’t be able to vote in Vancouver’s by-election, but after trying twice for a total of 2.5 hours of my time, it looks like it’s not going to happen. I’m really frustrated and mad.

I've cracked the code of why byelection lineups are so long in Vancouver today.

It's not just a turnout question.

Compared to the 2017 byelection, the city decreased the number of election workers by EIGHTY PERCENT.

From 1,250 in 2017 to 250 this time around.

This was a staff recommendation.

Some members of a Vancouver synagogue say they have questions for when Pierre Poilievre visits their community Sunday.

But while Poilievre will make a speech and have a photo op, questions won’t be allowed.

This is really important work on school exclusion from BC's ombudsperson. I encourage anyone impacted to fill it out- this kind of exclusion often goes unreported. We experienced this with our son, largely due to a lack of resources to support him. #bcpoli #bced bcombudsperson.ca/school-exclu...
