Maybe we needed to play hardball with other countries in order to improve our manufacturing stateside, but scorched earth is incredibly stupid. I don’t think this is going to go well.

Having been on engineering teams supporting this sort of thing, it’s absolutely insane to think that tariffs will make it easier to bring manufacturing back to the US.
The idea that tariffs will bring manufacturing jobs back:
Building a factory takes long term planning & 3-5yrs to complete.
By then we will have a new President with their own agenda or Trump may back off of these sooner.
Why would a CEO make a massive investment like that w/so many unknowns?
