As a half Dane, I love the start of hygge season. Off from work today, on the morning after our first snowstorm, and I’m so excited to be able to light candles and snuggle down on the sofa.

I just realized that responding, not really, to the question, do you have plans for the weekend?, is flat out wrong. I have plans: reading on the sofa, baking bread, snuggling with Misha, cooking, cleaning (maybe), talking with my mum. My schedule is full!

Happy #caturday from Misha!
Here’s a question for the bluesky hive mind - what’s the best drinking fountain? Misha does drink from his bowl, but really loves licking rainwater from the top of the balcony table, so thinking I’d like to get a fountain for him. Thanks for any suggestions!

Misha like the security of his cat tree house, but seems to get overheated, so lets various body parts hang out.

Alert. And engaged. And not about to flee. I’m so proud of him. This morning was stressful because a stranger had to come into the apartment and make noise and there was noise in the entire building. He reverted to hiding behind the washing machine, which is his ultimate hiding place.

Oh god. Happy that it’s as good as you t could be. Here’s Misha for you. Happy that I’m home, but needs to show a bit of sass anyway to punish me.

In Newfoundland, on the Avalon Peninsula, for the very first time this week. Absolutely stunning!

Took the day off to do some chores and relaxing. Chores done (mostly), so now it’s time to relax.

Saw this post *just* after we planted asters in our condo garden. We also saved some native asters that had self seeded and survived the onslaught of mint. The pretty ones below are not at our building, but a building just down the street. Wonder if they’d mind if we “collected” some next spring

Misha is loving the return of the cooler weather. I am too, as he’s 100% more snuggly when it’s cool

Had to completely rearrange my living room to get enough space for the outdoor plants to come inside. I’m really happy with how it looks. I guess I’ll have to buy a new balcony table next year because I think the benches are staying.

We were shocked the first couple of years? And then welcome it with pleasure each year after that. It was right by our back door with its back to a wall, and got covered with snow every year, so maybe that helped protect it.
My sister, who lives in Denmark, has a massive sage bush at her cottage.

So many different kinds. This is the one I have. I love how bright green it is!

I’m enjoying #caturday with Misha, with whom I’ve shared a long journey from feral to lap cat. Although he looks relaxed here, he is constantly on guard. A too quick movement or sudden sound will send him fleeing to safety. Most of my friends have never seen him, and probably never will.

Here are a few more from today. View from my balcony at night, and a shot from the bottom of my street.

Oooh. Have so many, as urban scenes are my favourites. Here are two from Montreal, where I live, and one from Copenhagen, where my family lives.

Having moved from a duplex to a condo, I was afraid that the lack of a garden would be a very difficult transition. Now that I’ve been here one summer, have to say that balcony gardening almost makes up for it. Look forward even more plants next summer!

I’ve become fascinated by the colours of Montreal’s downtown pigeons. The flock that lives around my office building has many black and white individuals, obviously part of a large extended family. Today, however, there was a gorgeous chocolate brown pigeon takin advantage of our courtyard fountain.
