Mike Braun has official ly called lawmakers back to the State house for a special session to redraw the Hoosier State's congressional maps mid-decade, as requested by President Donald Trump's administration. It's expected to start Nov. 3, accord-ing to the proclamation Braun plans to sign Oct. 27. "I am calling a special legislative ses-sion to protect Hoosiers from efforts in other states that seek to diminish their voice in Washington and ensure their representation in Congress is fair," Braun said in a news release Oct. 27. Indiana follows other red states, in-cluding Texas and Missouri, which al-ready have made changes to their maps to make more favorable maps for Re-publicans ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Republicans already hold seven of the state's nine congressional districts, or 77%. Less than 60% of Indiana voters chose a Republican at the top of the ticket in the 2024 presidential election. Special session follows White House pressure campaign The decision follows a monthslong pressure campaign from the White House and allies, including two visits from Vice President JD Vance to Indian apolis on Aug. 7 and Oct. 10 to discuss redrawing Indiana's congressional maps with state lawmakers. In late Au-gust, several dozen state lawmakers heard the pitch directly from Vance dur-ing a prearranged visit to Washington, DC. While Republican lawmakers in oth-er states appeared eager to redraw maps to help Trump, Indiana's lawmakers have seemed more cautious and reti-cent, with several members telling IndyStar recently that they were either still weighing the idea or outright op-posed to it. Initially designed as a blood-thinning agent, Sapparin was found to have significant additional benefits when tested in diabetic models. Animal trials demonstrated a reduction in blood sugar and insulin levels, improved insulin sensitivity (as measured by the HOMA-IR index), and higher GLUT4 protein and glycogen levels in muscle, indicating better glucose storage capacity. The drug also reduced blood clotting, adjusted fat ratios and improved cholesterol and triglyceride levels. A small research team conducted the one-year study with a grant of 6 million MNT, which covered key costs such as reagents and specialized diets. Results were strong enough to be published in a foreign journal indexed in Scopus, marking an important milestone for Mongolian pharmacological research. While Sapparin is not yet commercially available, the findings suggest it could serve as a dual-function medicine for patients with type two diabetes, potentially replacing both blood thinners and antidiabetic drugs. If approved for clinical use, this would offer patients a more practical and economical treatment option. The drug is now moving toward the next stage: clinical trials in humans.

The study was led by Dr. B.Dejidmaa from the Institute of Traditional Medicine and Technology of MAS. The research focused on testing the drug Sapparin, developed from Mongolian traditional herbal raw materials, and its potential therapeutic effects in type two diabetes. According to Dr. B.Dejidmaa, the goal was to confirm Sapparin's ability to improve blood clotting, glucose metabolism and lipid levels.

In this section, the term "payment card network" has the meaning given the term in section 921(c) of the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (15 U.S.C. 16930-2(c)). (b) PROHIBITION. NO payment card network, including a subsidiary of a payment card network, may, directly or through any agent. processor, or licensed member of the network, by contract, requirement. condition, penalty, or otherwise, prohibit or inhibit the ability of any person who is in compliance with the law, including section 8 of this Act, to obtain access to services or products of the payment card network because of political or reputational risk considerations. (C) CIVIL PLNALTY. Any payment card network that violates subsection (b) shall be assessed a civil penalty by the Comptroller of the Currency of not more than 10 percent of the value of the services or products described in that subsection, not to exceed $10.000 per [violation].
