A fun question. In 5 years time, what looks better? The US’s enormous bet & capex on AI? Or China’s equally enormous bet and capex on renewables?
China has made cheap, clean energy available in huge quantities. The world should take the win econ.st/4oqFszB

In huge positive news, the Australian government just ruled out handing the work of their country’s creatives to AI companies for free 🙌

They resisted the well-funded tech lobby & shut down proposals to upend copyright law.

Other governments should do the same!

It's been a weird year for my drawing.

It kind of peaked using a computer and I wasn't able to sustain or replicate the results I was getting.

With all the Ai shenanigans going on at the minute, my response is to go back to basics and draw freehand with a brush pen.

Drawing direct.

Late to this, but really can’t recommend enough this episode of Origin Story w/ @dorianlynskey.bsky.social and @iandunt.bsky.social on the Rivers of Blood speech. Scary as hell, brilliantly analysed, with lessons for all of us on the mainstreaming of the far-right

Here's a better idea: every data centre you build, you build enough renewable energy to power it, and you supply the waste heat from your cooling system to power homes and businesses nearby. Simple. Common sense. And fair.

Support comics on Kickstarter. Not only do you get to feel vaguely good about yourself, but it's like a gift from past you to present you. Such a delight when they unexpectedly arrive

@geengeenie and I treated ourselves to a pair of the cheap seats at Basildon Vue to see James Gunn’s interpretation of Superman…which was, predictably, brilliant. Everything from the casting to the music choices is perfect. Mister Terrific is just that and Krypto is the new Baby Groot.

You have to admit, that to go from 12th in the Premier League and total disarray this time two years ago to Club World Cup Champions is quite the turnaround.

A lovely article about Strangehaven's 30th anniversary by John Freeman on his Down the Tubes website.
It’s time to raise a glass to a long-running, much acclaimed independent comic, Strangehaven, the creation of Gary Spencer Millidge, which launched 30 years ago this month

I can’t quite believe where all that time went, but this month thirty years ago, the first issue of Strangehaven reached comic shops across the world.
