9/ Although Modi’s overall rating has not changed much, certain demographics have modified their views. Modi is *more* popular among younger Indian Americans, richer households, and men. He is *less* popular among non-citizens, women, and the poorest, least education respondents
March 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
8/ In the aggregate, Modi’s approval ratings among the diaspora have not budged much between 2020 and 2024. In 2024, 47% approve or strongly approve of his job as PM (In 2020, the figure was 50%).
March 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
7/ Indian Americans are much more optimistic about India’s trajectory in 2024 than they were in 2020. 47% believe the country is on the “right track.” This represents a sharp uptick from 2020.
March 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
6/ Notably, half of Indian Americans are unaware of the “murder-for-hire” plot. Overall, 51% of Indian Americans believe that India would *not* be justified in carrying out targeted assassinations of U.S. citizens on U.S. soil.
March 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
5/ In retrospect, Indian Americans believe Biden did a modestly better job handling U.S.-India ties than Trump (34% vs. 28%). 26% feel the performance of both presidents was about the same.
March 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
4/ In this thread, I highlight a few of our top-line findings. First, Indian Americans favorably assess Biden’s handling of U.S.-India relations. 48% approve or strongly approve of his stewardship. By comparison, Trump’s approval on U.S.-India ties stood at 33% at the end of his first term.
