Thanks, good to know! I know there's also a bunch of MC crates from protocol parsing to unfinished clients to full servers, and honestly it's such a boon to have so much well structured code to learn from, and with documentation to boot. Truly we're eating so well.

Except of course, saying "AI is everywhere, it's the future, it's unavoidable" will remain their excuse to keep the hallucinating discrimination generators in their place, dodge accountability and perpetuate opinion control.

LLM type AI really is a way to exploit the population in ways that they were already being exploited (eg denying medical coverage), but this time dodging the responsibility by saying AI made the decision, when in fact, the owners made the decision but now have a convenient scapegoat.

The problem with the GPT-era of AI is, and always will be, that it's a disinformation content-theft machine, and it's a fundamentally reality bending power in the hands of silicon valley fascist-aligned tech bros. Who is it helping to repeat their overconfident exaggerated claims?

I cannot overstate how stupid it is to worry about AI doomsday scenarios - it literally is the equivalent of hating vaccines because they supposedly contain GPS microchips that government uses to control your brain.. AI has exactly as much intelligence or free will as vaccines have GPS microchips.

As someone who's been one of admins of production clusters, 100% yeah. I still think K8s is a good default solution for almost anything non-trivial and non-static, but boy does it ever need careful consideration and ideally limited privileges for most people accessing it.

The documentation for some things is a bit hit and miss, but in general it's a competent product. Give or take Ruby and a million config options

One option that my previous company started investigating was Kargo,io, and as far as I (briefly) looked it sounded good, but I never got to implement so no real advice.

I've heard good things about CircleCI from friends' companies too, but also no 1st hand experience.

Jenkins & spinoffs - full of java vulns, but its simplicity isn't a bad thing, but I would only use it for simple use cases

Spinnaker - just no

GitLab/Heptapod - good enough for some build&deploy. Setting up the K8s runner is a bit of work but you do it once and then it works. Also f Helm, ew

Local file on your computer? There's hope! if you're on Windows, get a USB stick, download some portable NTFS Undelete software on it (plenty of open source/free ones), and let it find it
Linux, Mac -> something similar exists I'm sure
Cloud -> trash or edit history or email support
