YEAH THE WHOLE FUNERAL SCENE HAD ME A LIL EMOTIONAL NGL LOL the mom of the kid who just giving yusuke's mother the deepest bow of apology she could give and the kid being like "ill thank him later!" and it just....wow what a strong start to an anime togashi truly is a genius

the first few episodes are so important because yusuke only chooses to live because he sees how absolutely loved and MISSED he is by others in his life. that is ultimately what makes him decide to continue living, unconditional love from those around him. im so 🥺🥺🥺🥺

but after seeing the absolute corpse she became when thinking her son had died, he realized she genuinely loves him and wants him around. she even clings to him more and fears she'll lose him again! theyre still distant overall, but its clear they love each other deeply as their only family

his relationship with his mom seems complicated. she clearly loves and adores him as her only child and only family left, she was DEVISTATED when he was dead. but she's kinda...irresponsible and overbearing at times, and yusuke before his death thought she wouldnt rly miss him. (1)

speaking of yusuke, he is a really strong protagonist. hes the "bad boy" delinquent who feels like no one cares about him because he sucks as a person but hes actually SUPER RIGHTEOUS AND HEROIC yet!! still a delinquent. everything he does is rly in character i love it haha
