Traveled in my #TARDIS yesterday to watch Allsång på Skansen from 15.7.2025. Had a great time. Hit into a temporal anomaly on the way back and I'm now living 1 hour in the future from everyone else. According to my readings, the anomaly will collapse on 8.3.2026 and everyone will catch up to me.

This never gets old! Always fun to see this on the App Store!

I would love to use the clear variant of liquid glass for the floating control layer in my Gradiance app update, unfortunately it doesn't adapt to darker colors (or lighter colors if in Dark Mode) and so I guess I'm going to have to go with the regular (frosted) variant of liquid glass instead.

Not sure if this will offer any clue (or not). This is my code for my CoreData and for one of my (currently disabled) previews in a view:

It's been a very productive day updating my #SwiftUI test project for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS 26. I now have a pretty good idea of what I have to do for my other apps. 🙂

@mikestern.bsky.social I came up with a "great" UI that represents the pinnacle of macOS design in 2025 (based on the graphical date picker that clearly adheres to the HIG - right?). Here it is. Peak design! Great char spacing! (all mock up except for the date picker part - that is real [yikes!]). 😏

Actually, just found a picture. The content up to the navigation layers are greyed out and the drop shadow of the sheet is greater than the level of the sidebar as it is floating in a layer above (not in the same level) 🤔

The red wallpaper I came up with in my Gradiance app for #macOS, #iOS, and #iPadOS seemed a bit harsh, so decided to go with a more pastel pink tone instead. www.yenco.com/gradiance.html

For the first time ever, all the previews in my iKeeper project in Xcode are working for macOS & iOS/iPadOS. It is great to finally be able to see how my UI adapts to different situations with my mock data (from CoreData) while working on the #SwiftUI code.

Built some custom SF Symbols in Sketch for one of my Xcode projects with the export template (right before Apple simplified things to auto-generate between weights 😫). Haven't had a chance to play with the newer layering stuff for animation, color, etc. or trying to put them in the app.

Here's how the icon for my test project turned out:

Had some #WWDC fun experimenting with liquid glass in Icon Composer for my Finance app icon. A bit of a change to this one as I decided to expand the icon to the full canvas. I think it works well conveying the credit card in wallet design. Decided to have dark and light mode the same.

Had some #WWDC fun experimenting with liquid glass in Icon Composer for my Gradiance app icon. Not much to change on this icon.

Please just tell me that the consistent updated design and behavior across OS 26 finally extends to removing the vomit-inducing macOS graphical date picker 🤢 (seriously - THIS in 2025?!?) in favor of the great iOS/iPadOS graphical date picker (presumably updated to look even better in liquid glass)
June 10, 2025 at 1:56 AM
With all of the changes Apple made to make things consistent across all the OS 26 platforms at #WWDC, can anyone confirm if the graphical date picker on macOS 26 looks better than this ancient relic finally? Seriously, I will sleep better knowing this abomination has finally gone away.

Apple, I've made your ugly macOS graphical date picker as nice as I can in my apps, but I really hope for this #WWDC you finally include an awesome looking graphical date picker (like the awesome one you created for iOS & iPadOS).

Anyone know if there is a more concise way to write this #SwiftUI code?
May 19, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Following on from yesterday: For the first time ever, all the previews in my Finance project in Xcode are working for macOS. As with iOS, it is great to be able to see how my UI adapts to different situations with my mock data (from CoreData) while working on the #SwiftUI code.

To make sure I'm understanding this: Line 2 creates instance of my mock data. 3-5 set up a fetchRequest (syntax I didn't know, but similar to @FetchRequest). 5 runs the request. Use .first record of that in line 9, and finally pass mock data created on line 2 into environment in line 10 🤔

Could have sworn that I saw a bit of #SwiftUI code in one of the WWDC videos or online that showed how to get a particular record from mock data (with Core Data) to pass as a parameter with a Preview macro, but I can't find it. Anyone know how I can get the first "Section" to pass in instead of nil?
