Monthly update time!
Here’s my October highlights for Cambridge Ward 🙂

So proud of my son and his team for winning their first football match over the weekend. It’s their second season together and they had lost every game up to now. It meant so much to them, like they won the cup final.
I will always remember this 🥲

I also commissioned a heat pump. Always busy 😅

Happy Friday night!
My monthly update is a bit late this month - been mad busy at work.
Here’s a little summary for anyone interested in what I did for Cambridge Ward in September.

I support this statement from @seftoncouncil.bsky.social and stand in solidarity with our Jewish community following this horrific act of terror. My thoughts are with all those affected.

Final push to get our Cambridge Ward Focus leaflet delivered before the NHS consultation closes on 3rd October. We want to see Children’s A&E return to Southport.
If you want to join the Cambridge Ward Liberal Democrat Focus team, get in touch. Together we can make a difference.

Tell One Vision to Cut The Grass!

One Vision Housing has scrapped the gardening service which was provided free of charge to older and disabled residents with no family or friends to help. Disgusting!

You can add your name to the petition using the form below.

Just to add. The heat pump repairs are rarely on our own installations and are often on older models. Here is one of ours with a live monitoring package and you can see the house is 22c.
As long as you’re within 30 mins of Southport we will fix your heating, any make or model of boiler or heat pump.

Mad busy but happy doing what I do best. Our engineers are installing a heat pump in Southport and I’ve been getting everyone’s heating going for the winter.
Finished last heat pump repair at 9pm tonight. On Monday I fixed a heat pump 5 or 6 engineers tried to before me and I sorted it in an hour.

Last week Sefton Council voted against asking One Vision Housing to reinstate the gardening service at these bungalows for elderly and disabled residents.

But that didn’t stop me getting them some help as a temporary solution. Thanks to Parrydise Gardens, Jillian is now delighted with her garden.

Just a couple of minor improvements to report:
A resident asked for the bin to be replaced outside Fleetwood Rd park just a few weeks ago. Cambridge Ward councillors have covered this through ward funds.

I reported a large pothole on Radnor Dive.
Thanks to Sefton Council staff for sorting.

Getting our latest Cambridge Ward Focus leaflet through the doors which has a link to the NHS Shaping Care Together consultation. Let’s bring Children’s A&E back to #Southport!

I am relieved that Southport pier appears to be okay after a small fire last night. Thank you to Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service for a fast reaction to save it.

Hopefully the next news we hear on the Pier will be the funding confirmed and a date to start the long-term repair.

As August comes to a close, here’s a quick round-up of another busy month working hard for Cambridge Ward residents.

I got BT to clean up the phone box on Manchester Rd. Just wanted to do a favour for the businesses as it wasn’t fair on them having this filthy thing outside.
I have also asked about getting it replaced which I am discussing the Council and fellow Cambridge Ward councillors.

It was an honour to cut the ribbon alongside Abi for the reopening of Sandpipers. It was such an emotional and happy day. You have to meet these wonderful people to see how much it means. Thank you to everyone who canpaigned for respite care in Southport and around the country ♥️

Congratulations to everyone who got their exam results today. Remember they don’t define the rest of your life!

A brilliant letter by Together With Refugees. I wholeheartedly agree.
I am not impressed by the recent rhetoric from certain politicians on immigration and the divisive politics that it brings.
We must start making the positive case for immigration and never give up on those in need.

It was amazing to see Chris Truett arrive home in Southport today, ending his final leg of Cycling the World to raise money for men’s prostate cancer.
You can follow his incredible journey on Facebook or Instagram and donate to his cause via this link. 👏

Councillors can make a difference!
I’m very pleased to see Preston Rd finally resurfaced after I raised it last year and was told that it was not on the list to be done, but it would be re-assessed.
I’ve today spoken with residents on the road and they’re happy, so I’m happy. 😁

Lovely walk with my dog on Southport Beach this evening. ♥️

Hesketh Park Sensory Garden 2021 and now.
Today was judging day for Britain In Bloom and Southport has entered in for the best coastal town.
Differences happening like this all over Southport and it’s all down to our amazing volunteer groups. I think they deserve it.

Hesketh Park Sensory Garden looking great ahead of Britain In Bloom judging tomorrow. 🙏
I tell people all the best looking places in Southport are down to our amazing volunteer groups. We have a lot to thank them for. ♥️

Pleased to see several Sefton Council vehicles and workers today doing a great job on Fleetwood Rd.
Weeds in the gutters were sprayed a couple of weeks ago, today they were removed and the road swept. I had been chasing it up for residents here but all roads are done on a rota.
