Last night's aurora over the Bay Bridge and skyline of San Francisco. Amazing to see them this far south and through all of the city lights! #cawx

Some late season fall color on a rainy day in the northern Sierra Nevada.

Golden hour at Half Dome- from a late September sunset in the Yosemite high country. I love the lone tree clinging to the cliff to give a sense of scale.

Lightning over the fog-shrouded hills of the California central coast on September 23. It's always a treat when thunderstorms make a rare visit to the west coast, especially when they bring rain with them. #cawx

The fall color in the eastern Sierra Nevada is great right now! Winter is coming though- a storm is forecast to move in on Monday and bring several feet of snow. #cawx

The wild open spaces of the eastern Sierra Nevada are a truly underrated place to see fall color. A few photos from a stormy day in late September.

Just your typical Sunday afternoon in Arizona- a 3000-foot-high wall of dust crossing a mountain range. From 8/31 over the Dragoon Mountains east of Tucson #azwx

Electricity on the ground, electricity in the sky. A storm back on August 21 put out a constant barrage of photogenic, branching lightning over the west valley of Phoenix #azwx

A spectacular rainbow at the Grand Canyon, as seen from Yavapai Point on August 15. It's not every day you can look *down* to see a rainbow, but it happens at the Grand Canyon! #azwx

It's hard to beat the monsoon sunset views from Park Link Road. From 8/20/2025. #azwx

A really fun sunset chase last night in southern Pinal County, AZ. Nice to see the monsoon starting to wake up again! #azwx

Lightning illuminates a thunderstorm near Wickenburg, AZ back on August 13. Managed to sneak in a landing point too! #azwx

It's been a quiet monsoon season in Arizona this year, but the sunsets haven't disappointed! From last week in the Superstition Mountains. #azwx

A nice bolt over the remote desert north of Benson, AZ last weekend. It's always neat to see lightning light up the landscape under it. #azwx

It's great to be back in Arizona for the monsoon again! Last night, thunderstorms formed behind an outflow boundary that moved across central AZ, including this one over the hills west of Phoenix. It's looking like a busy next few days too! #azwx

Back on June 2nd this beautiful supercell formed over the plains of northeast Colorado near the town of Sterling. #cowx

On June 5, a supercell formed near the small town of Causey in eastern New Mexico. It went on to produce multiple tornadoes between there and Lubbock, TX, especially around the town of Morton. Here are a few of them! #txwx #nmwx

Some of the wildest cloud motion I've seen- this was from the early stages of a supercell that produced several tornadoes west of Lubbock on 6/6/25. The whole cloud was rolling horizontally like the crankshaft of an engine, while being ingested into the updraft of the storm. #txwx

Can there ever be enough photos of the Nara Visa supercell? From northeast New Mexico on June 7 this year. #nmwx

Photos from a large HP supercell moved over the eastern TX panhandle on 6/8/2025. Besides the great structure, it put out the most visible CGs that I've seen from a supercell in a long time. #txwx

Caught a few nice cloud-to-ground bolts over Lake McConaughy as a line of storms moved through western Nebraska on 6/12/2025 #newx

I'm pretty sure this is what the end of the world looks like.

9 years ago today was the first time I ever _heard_ a tornado- the powerful Bennington(II)/Abilene/Chapman EF-4 from 5/25/2016 #kswx
