Note how these awful people are getting exactly the exclusions of children that they demanded and *that still isn’t enough for them*: they demand everyone be delighted about it and kiss their arses for being brilliant.

This is such incredible news
Clean power growth is now covering all new global demand. Solar and wind generated 635 TWh in the first nine months of this year, exceeding the 603 TWh rise in global electricity demand, and holding fossil generation flat for the year. buff.ly/zRmwAmg

Q3 Global Power Report: No fossil fuel growth expected in 2025 | Ember
Solar and wind power grew fast enough to keep up with rising electricity demand in the first three quarters of 2025, as fossil fuel growth should be stagnated. Ember forecasts no growth for fossil…

I’d point out that the Iraq report was instantly binned and never referred to again; that nobody is in prison for the Hillsborough disaster or for *soldiers literally gunning down civilians in the street*, and that there are no notable calls to exact consequences on Boris Johnson. This is standard.

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

If the Prescott memo is true, and there is a secret cabal of LGBTQ+ journalists stopping any negative stories about trans people being published or aired at BBC News, then, I have to say, they’re doing a really fucking shit job of that.

I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

The consistent attempts to demonise, stigmatise and other the anti-genocide movement ("unBritish") is a form of political collusion with the genocide. It directly echoes and amplifies the propaganda of the state committing the genocide, and seeks to alleviate political pressure on its accomplices.

Incredibly dangerous for a senior politician to suggest that there's some zero-sum game to be played between mourning the losses of Oct7 and protesting an ongoing genocide. And incredibly cynical given that the protests are directed at his own complicity

so we get this weird bifurcation, where elites think trump was put in office to end the republic, while the median american thought they put trump into office to get lower prices

which explains the delta between elite acquiescence and popular rage, imo

great article. one thing i will add, i think, is how for many libs the election was a traumatic event. they deeply believed that it "should not be close", that democrats should *obviously* run away with it, and the fact we didn't must mean americans just LOVE trump's policies
my latest is expanding on the observation that your view of the politics of opposition to the administration depend largely on your view of the election (gift link)

I wrote about Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ezra Klein, why swallowing live frogs is a bad idea, and how context and history can release you from bright-kid syndrome, the illusion that you yourself are going to have every answer or fix the world.
You don't have to swallow frogs
Klein and Coates show that if you don't know what your core beliefs are, you're going to get played.

I think this is the best piece I've read so far about the large number of elites who basically can't deal with the situation we are in. it doesn't compute and they keep hunting for an exit that doesn't exist

People seem to forget that one reason Trump won in 2016 was because he was the first political candidate in a generation to step up and say, “You’re correct: Your lives have gotten worse, these people are lying to you, they refuse to own their mistakes, and you can make them pay by voting for me.”
This argument (that Corbyn is playing into a ‘politics of grievance’ a la Farage) at its core relies on the premise that the idea people might have grievances about the UK and its governance right now is fundamentally an illegitimate political motivator. And if that’s your position: Good luck.
